Strawberry Lemonade Matcha Refresher
I was exploring the Boston Seaport with my daughter. We had already walked a few miles when we ran into a local bakery to stop and get a snack and drink before we continued exploring.
It was a cool morning, so she decided to get a hot chocolate. I would usually just do an iced coffee black, but the special of the day was a strawberry lemonade matcha refresher. So, I decided to try something different.
We shared a slice of Boston Crème Pie on a little table outside of the bakery.
We were joking around and not really talking about much of anything until she made a comment that struck me as poetic. I don’t remember the comment she made, but I remember being curious about her intention.

Meet Me Here
Someone could be heard in the other room.
“The winters are typically mild, but this one is especially brutal.”
“I mean, It’s just been tough to stay warm, but the culture is amazing. The American Dream. And very family friendly.”
“I really don’t know how people could say they hate it here.”
“Education is the best in the country!”
“You like that right?”

The Funny Man
The funny man came on every channel tonight.
He opened with a joke, and the crowd laughed like they were paid to. But between the punchlines, he slipped in promises shaped like threats.
His sharp sarcasm was wrapped in applause.
At home, no one moved.
It’s hard to tell an audience to be afraid
when the man on the screen is still smiling.
